Spiritual Awakening: Why Getting Lost Is How You Find Your Way

A Personal Story of Spiritual Awakening, Loss, and Finding the Path Again

There was a time in my life when everything I thought was solid fell apart. My marriage ended. The future I had envisioned dissolved. Plans, identity, stability, all of it shifted at once. It didn't feel spiritual. It felt disorienting. Raw. Personal.

At the time, I thought I had taken a wrong turn.

But looking back, I see it differently.

The Difference Between a Maze and a Labyrinth

A maze is full of dead ends. You make a wrong choice and have to retrace your steps. Every turn is a test. Every wrong move is a failure.

A labyrinth is different.

It is one continuous path that winds and doubles back on itself. Sometimes you walk in what feels like the wrong direction. Sometimes you move away from the centre before you move closer. But you are always on the path. Always moving forward.

There are no wrong turns in a labyrinth.

When my marriage ended, I felt lost. There were long stretches of silence. Questions I couldn't answer. Nights when the only thing I could do was sit with a heavy heart and wonder how it had all come apart.

That was the turning point.

Not because the pain vanished, it didn't. But because, in the middle of that uncertainty, something else began to emerge. A quiet awareness. Guidance that didn't shout, force, or demand.

It simply nudged.

Slowly, I began to listen.

Failure as Redirection

I started noticing patterns. Moments that once looked like failures began to reveal themselves as preparation. The breakdown wasn't punishment. It was redirection.

What I now understand as quantum consciousness and spiritual awakening didn't arrive with fireworks. It came as a perspective shift, from thinking life was happening to me to realising it was unfolding through me.

That breakdown stripped away roles and expectations. What remained was something more honest. More aligned. I began to trust the subtle signals within. The same inner guidance that later showed up in workplaces, decisions, and moments of real risk, like the time at the gold mine when a quiet feeling kept me from making a fatal mistake.

The labyrinth doesn't look efficient. It doesn't move in straight lines. But every curve has a purpose.

If You're in the Middle of a Hard Season

Consider this: you may not be lost at all.

Maybe you are simply walking a part of the path that doesn't yet look familiar. There is an intelligence moving through your life, even when you cannot see it clearly.

From a faith perspective, Jesus said to trust in God. To have faith. If God is divine energy, that deeper current running through all things, then trusting God is trusting the unfolding. Even when the path curves away from where you thought you were going.

You may not understand the turn you are on.

But you are still on the path.

And it is still leading you somewhere true.
